Stuffed Pears

Apples & pears grows in the Fall season for a reason. It’s incredible how nature knows what we need in our bodies based on seasons, locations, and environment. Apples & pears are fruits that specifically grow in the Autumn season and contain a high dose of necessary components that helps the body create collagen for a thicker skin, which is necessary as we prepare for winter.

While trying to be creative with all the apples and pears I picked, I tried this new homemade recipe in the kitchen while in Belgium. It’s natural, holistic, living and plant based!

Filling:

5 organic apples (cut in cubes with skin on)

5 organic pears (cut in cubes with skin on)

3 tablespoon maple syrup, agave (or honey)

3 tablespoon cinnamon

3 tablespoon nutmeg

1 tablespoon of coconut butter (or oil)

1 cup walnuts (cut in pieces)

1 cup figs (cut in pieces)

1 cup raisins

In a pan, cook all the above at medium heat, stir until a thick consistency. Set aside.

For Base: Cut 3 pears in half and scoop out the middle and pits. Set on an oven bake pan for about 20 min at 180C/350F in the oven. Drizzle maple syrup and add cinnamon & nutmeg to the pears.

When pears are cooked, add desired amount of filling to the middle of the pears!

Don’t let cooler weather and overcast days become your excuse to make unhealthy eating choices. Stick with your nutritious habits during the next few months to maintain a healthy weight, prevent colds and illness, and stay energized through winter!
